Dan Whipps Photography

I'm a photographer. That's what I do. It's all I've ever done.

(I've been told I'm a great dad to my four daughters and my wife seems to be pretty fond of me, but I'm not sure that counts as marketable attributes.)

Truth is, I am essentially unqualified for any other job, so it's a good thing I love what I do.

I've been a staff photographer, a freelance independent and associated with established studios. I have created and managed a large in-house studio for a major retailer, and have been running my own studio for going on ten years now.

I learned my craft in the pressure cooker of a national department store advertising studio, where one learns to light and to shoot a wide range of products quickly and efficiently. From there I have worked with a variety of talented and experienced mentors from whom I learned much. Later I spent five years designing, equipping, staffing and managing a 20,000 sq. ft. studio with a staff of 15.

Today my studio is a bit more modest, a mere 7,000 sq. ft. converted grocery store located near downtown Baltimore and minutes from BWI airport. I have the great good fortune to make my living shooting for a wonderful and growing roster of local and national clients and I'm happy to be challenged to create compelling images on a daily basis. I look forward to the chance to create with you.
