About Dan
* There are two kinds of photographer: picture takers. And picture makers. I’m a picture maker.
* My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic110 point-and-shoot. My first real camera was a Pentax ME Super. I loved that camera.
* My only other jobs besides photography have been in food service back-of-the-house prepping and cooking. And a quick stint repairing sewing machines.
* I survived raising four daughters. I can handle whatever you throw at me.
* In college I transitioned from fine art to photography – I felt compelled to make a living – and, there were those four daughters.
* Ten years shooting for regional and national department stores was great training in efficiency and production.
* I designed, staffed, equipped and managed a 25,000 sq. ft. in-house studio for one of those department stores – fantastic experience.
* Running my own studio, though, is what I’ve always wanted to do.
* I build sets in the service of telling stories. I light a scene to evoke an emotion.
* It’s Roscoe’s studio. He lets us hang out.
* I love welcoming clients, guests and friends to the studio. In addition to being a great space to shoot, the studio is an awesome party spot. Just saying.
